Hello to everyone!
My name is Dmitry Danilov. I have decided to write this message in order to disclose my personal standing in the most earnest way, for in terms of educational process, especially when one studies yoga, the confidence and understanding between the teacher and the student are the elements of major importance. So here it is about me. I was born in the city of Mariupol. Starting from my age of 13 I was living abroad where I received my secondary-level and higher education: in the USA and Austria. As of today I have two higher educations: in economics and pedagogics, in the sphere of physical training and sport. The years I spent in Europe and North America were accompanied by self-dependent constant travelling around different countries that were full of interesting and educative acquaintances. When at school and being a student I was actively doing mountain sports: mountain climbing and alpine skiing. At the age of 17, I got acquainted with tradition of Yoga for the first time. This acquaintance was transformed into profound preoccupation that I am still enthusiastic in. In 2003 I learnt about the method of Yoga practiced by Andrey Safronov, the President of Ukrainian Federation of Yoga. My personal acquaintance with Andrey and becoming his student enabled my different and more profound approach to myself and the tradition of Yoga in general. In 2007 I started giving regular yoga classes. From that time hundreds of people have visited our course of yoga for beginners. Some of them today teach fitness-yoga in the sport halls of the city. Many of them attend senior courses of the yoga-school and proceed with their development by means of this ancient tradition. Getting to know India, spiritual apprenticeships and Yoga schools. A person who is serious in practicing any technique always turns to its sources. And thus in 2007 I made my decision to get to know all traditional schools of yoga. As of today, the task is fulfilled. I have completed the program of Iyengar and visited his institute in Puna. I have spent unforgettable days in the school of Pattabhi Jois. I had a chance (though for a short period) to get acquainted with the line of Desikachar in Madras, the son of revolutionary teacher of the XXth century – Krishmnamacharya. I have spent some period living in monkish conditions of the severe Bihar school and I was shocked by the natural approach from the point of physiology practiced by Dhirendra Brahmachari in Delhi. Spiritually for me were important centers of Sri Aurobindo in Pondicherrry, as well as Rishikesh – the world capital of yoga. I have performed an immersion into tradition of Tibetan yoga in Ladakh and Tibet and into Osho methodology in his Puna meditation center. There were also introductions to Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, many Indian derivations of Christianity and of course the Hinduism. I have visited a Sufi order in the city of Konya where I was taught as a guest. These systems together with some others have left their imprints and have crystallized my understanding of yoga tradition, they have made it keen and more vivid.
My definition of yoga. Yoga is the practice determined at person’s development. It enables to open up new possibilities in all spheres of one’s wheels of life. The practice of yoga makes one open one’s eyes and see his body. It enables to learn much about one’s mentality and one’s spirit. It is this knowledge that helps a person to open up and master new skills that are actual for him. The specific nature of yoga is that all this kind of knowledge is practicable and applicable in conditions of our today life. And of course it all leads to healthy, integral and harmonious state of the practicing person.
My attitude to yoga. I love yoga for its variability and the freedom it brings. I admire its pertaining ancient element. I am an adherent of the concept that aims at bringing modern novelties and developing the tradition in compliance with discoveries made by modern science.
The way I see the teaching and those who come to learn. I respect those who come to my course. I am glad these people have become interested in this ancient practice. I take the people who practice yoga as those who are interested in their development, those who aim at obtaining new knowledge and putting it into practice.
